Trophy Bison Hunts

SPECIES: We offer both species, Plains and Wood Bison for harvest. The bulls are old, giant breeding bulls with some of them weighing over a ton. Bison are very hardy animals that need to be treated with respect. We recommend the use of 300 caliber or larger to take one of those giant animalsSEASON: The best time to hunt bison is from September to late January, when the capes will be prime. However, we can hunt all year round. We can also arrange Hunts for Black Bear, Wolf or Whitetail deer before or after your Bison hunt when in season.

HUNTING AREA: The preserve consists of 4 quarter sections of deeded, low fenced northern Alberta wilderness. The rolling terrain is mostly treed with open meadows, beaver dams. You may encounter other wildlife like elk, moose, deer or bears that is subject to Alberta Hunting regulations.

HUNTING METHODS: We start the day with a hearty breakfast in our rustic hunting cabin. By sunrise we leave on foot and hunt spot and stalk. If we have snow cover it will make it possible to track Bison in the bush. Depending on the physical condition of the hunters we make use of Side by Side or Argo. W also have heated tower stands overlooking cutlines or food plots.

HOW TO GET THERE: Hunters arriving by plane are required to fly to Edmonton International Airpot where they will be picked up and take to a hotel or the hunting cabin in the preserve. If you would like to tae all y0ur meat home, we recommend to drive to Alberta and we meet in the town of Westlock.

WEATHER: Here in northern Alberta you can expect frost at night in September with day time temperatures around plus 20 Celsius. October gradually cools off and the first snow normally arrives in early November. Snow cover allows us to tracking bison with good success, especially if a bison get wounded. We can expect a few days of severe winter weather in January. Proper clothing is essential and we can always return to a toasty warm cabin for a hot beverage and warm up.

ACCOMMODATION: Our guests have the choice of staying in our rustic hunting cabin, located in the preserve, heated by wood stove and electiricy supplied by generator or hotel in the nearest town of Westlock, about 50 km from the hunting area.
